ETERNA-MATIC Watch Co. - "First gents automatic-family with ball-bearing rotor".
Eterna-Matic movement, one of a number of innovations by Eterna, was developed in 1948 as an improved self-winding mechanism using five strategically placed ball bearings in order to reduce friction and resistance on the oscillating weight that wound the watch. The effect was to make the movement more efficient and reduce the wear and tear on internal components.
ETERNA-MATIC 17 Jewels Automatic Wristwatch
All in stainless-steel, this is a super cool timepiece! It is a vintage Eterna-Matic automatic wristwatch dated from 1954.
It is a self-winding watch powered by an original Eterna-Matic movement, caliber Eterna 1416U, 17 jewels, sweep second, 18,000 A/h, 48 hours power reserve, Swiss made.
Neat condition, the original white dial with gold hour markers, luminous dots, black minute/second track, and gold matching hands. The dial is also signed with the Eterna-Matic name and the five-dot logo (five ball bearings used in the movement).
Cased in a 34.5mm round stainless-steel case and lugs. Original Eterna-Matic signed crown.
This watch comes with a vintage stainless-steel bracelet signed: N. GEMELLI 3er DAN JUDO.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust the lighting, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended. Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
