A very rare solid fourteen carat yellow gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 1601 model with a 'no lume' solid gold 'pie pan' dial with great wedge markers at the six and nine o'clock positions.  The case is made in all fourteen carat gold, which is very rare, as even in all eighteen carat Datejust models are not common.  Being made in fourteen carat gold, this was made exclusively for the American market.  The watch is powered by the classic Rolex Swiss made twenty six jewel automatic calibre 1570 that also powered the iconic sports watches such as the GMT and the Submariner.  The watch was made circa 1971 with serial number 288XXXX.  The interior of the case back is stamped 1601, and '14k 585'.  The watch is in original condition, lightly polished over the years, and comes with a Foundwell one year warranty against mechanical failure.
