Rodana was founded in 1930 in Grenchen, Switzerland by Hans Baumgartner. The brand changed names from Rodana to Rodania in 1952. Today, Rodania watches are mostly sold in Canada.
This is a very pretty timepiece with a lovely beige dial that shows a very light patina. The Arabic numerals, hour dots, and syringe-style hour and minute hands are luminous and still shine brightly! The red sweep second is a nice contrast to the beige and brown colors that dominate the dial. The dial is signed Rodana, Automatic, and Swiss Made. It has stick hour marks, with Arabic numerals every 5 seconds around the edge.
It is a Swiss automatic movement and is waterproof, antimagnetic and shock absorbing, all cased in stainless steel. Estimated to be from the 1940s, this wristwatch is in nice conditions and runs great! It is presented on a light brown leather two-piece strap with silver buckle.
This vintage Rodana timepiece will be a nice collection addition for those who seek out obscure or small brands, or brands with interesting history such as Rodana, given that the company changed its name to Rodania.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
